No Love For Master Chief
After last weeks Video Game Awards hosted by the one and only Samuel L. Jackson and the recent release of Wired.com's top 10 video games of 2007 there is one video game that has some how managed to miss the top awards...Halo 3. Anybody who owns a console or PC knows this was a great year to be a gamer with top titles such as Assasins Creed, COD4, Halo 3, Crackdown, Bioshock and the list goes on and on. However, arguably the most anticipated of them all was Halo 3. Entering the battle of the games this past September, Halo has once again managed to create a following not to be messed with. Complete with a killer campaign and a top notch multiplayer (which is really the only thing it won awards for) Halo 3 offered to gamers what most games fail to do.
However, when it came time for the awards Halo has had some issues. It is in my opinion as a game aficionado that it has become the "cool thing to do" to dislike Halo 3 and the series in its entirety. Plagued by the PS3 fan boys and forum trolls, Halo 3 and its predecessors has continuously been mocked, preventing the video game followers to experience a truly magnificent game. Wired did not even include it in its top 10 games of 2007! I mean c'mon! When a game has over 20,000 people playing at any moment of any day, I think that speaks for itself in saying it deserves at least a top 10 spot! Most gamers I talk with that dislike the Halo series for whatever reason have no actual reason for hating it! Its more of a "well I don't own a X-box 360 so...HALO SUCKS!" No rational thought, just the ranting of ignorance.
Those gamers that continue to support the Halo series will always continue to do so, especially after the recent release of more multiplayer maps. So whatever your beef be you rating companies and ignorant fan boys, leave Master Chief alone...he only wants to save Earth one dead grunt at a time.
